I think Ven. Bodhi has a pertinent question that is still not answered yet.

The use of ablative case with pubbe is understood. But the form sambodhā looks unusual when the word to be inflected is sambodhi. Feminine words ending in short i vowel (ajanta pātipadikam) deflect as sambodhāya. I was hoping that answers can be found in Gāndhārī or some other dialect.

You can see in the tab there the PTS dictionary, Edgerton’s dictionary (BHSD) and even Monier-Williams (MW) (and a few others); all searchable with a single input in Unicode and very helpful.
