Dear Pali denizens,
Re: the recent query on abhikkamosāna.
Last month, I (re-)discovered that there is a Pali text on medicine published by PTS as follows:
Bhesajjamañjūsā,
ed. J. Liyanaratne, 1997
ISBN 347 8 £24.00
Edition of chapter 1-18 of the only extant Pāli medical text book containing information on medicines and illnesses. (13th century C.E.)
Translation: The Casket of Medicine.
Bhesajjamañjūsā II,
ed. J. Liyanaratne, 2009
ISBN 429 6 £41.80
Edition of chapter 19-60 of the only extant Pāli medical text book containing information on medicines and illnesses. (13th century C.E.)
There is no PTS translation of this text available.

Sounds interesting and the text might even have something on abhikkamosāna and paṭikkamosāna. As I've been afflicted by a chronic disease affecting my hearing and eyesight for the past 60 years or so, I've recently started taking an interest in old medical treatises. There is this Latin saying: medicus curat, natura sanat i.e. the physician treats, nature heals. I think it originates from Hippocrates in Greek.
Best wishes,
Jim
