Dear Venerable Yuttadhammo, Dear Mark, Dear Steve, Dear Bryan,
Thank you for you generous remarks. Apart from thanking you, Bryan for your role, which goes far beyond that of merely helping out, I want to thank Libbie Mills who has played a crucial role in (re-)starting Pali at UofT. I also express my gratitude to our doctoral student Anthony Scott, who is supporting our classes with his tutorials. Our modest attempt at continuingA. K. Warder's legacy of teaching Pali at the University of Toronto would not be possible without the three of them.
With warm regards,Christoph

Dear Mark and Steve,
Thanks very much. It is Christoph who deserves all the credit for this initiative. I am just helping out. And yes, I think it does speak well for the U of T's commitment to Buddhist studies; hopefully the program will grow over the years. I fogot to mention that Christoph's course introduces the Pali students to the Burmese script which is also very valuable, since so much of Pali is written in non-Roman scripts.
Ven Yuttadhammo - hope to see you at U of T next fall!
Best wishes,
Bryan

Bryan (and Christoph),
Yes this indeed good news. Congratulations. Here at Chicago I insist that students have done at least a year's Sanskrit before undertaking Pali, and then we read whatever the students (rarely more than 2 or 3) want to read, at whatever level they happen to be at. Somewhat haphazard and not at all a structured program such as you have! in Toronto.
Well done,
Steve Collins

Dear Bryan,Great to hear that you have been able to set up a program for all three years. Such a program is rarely offered in universities outside Asia.Best wishesMark AllonUniversity of SydneyFrom: palistudy@yahoogroups.com [mailto:palistudy@yahoogroups.com]
