Dear Ven. Pandita,

The Saddanīti Nissaya was written during the CE 1819-1837 reign of King
Bagyidaw of the Kombaung dynasty 1752-1885. It is not clear when the
Saddanīti-ṭīkā was written but its author was born in 1755 and honoured by
King Mindon who reigned 1852-78. The author would have been around 100 if
his year of birth is correct. I get this information from Peter Nyunt's
Catalogue of the Piṭaka and Other Texts in Pāḷi, Pāḷi-Burmese, and Burmese
(Piṭakat-tō-sa-maiṅ:) published by PTS in 2012. How do you verity that the
ṭīkā was written after the Nissaya and is a translation. For me, this would
require some familiarity with the two texts, perhaps one mentions the other.

Best wishes,

Jim

"U Bodh" is the name of the Nissaya author, not of the tīkā author. U Bodh
wrote many books, but Saddanīti nissaya is his masterpiece, and has been
published in Burma in (3) volumes. U Bodh prospered during the reign of the
king Botaw Phaya, whereas the author of the tīkā, during the reign of the
king Mingdon, the son of Botaw Phaya. (I'm sorry I don't remember the
dates, and I have no relevant works that I  can access)> with metta,

Ven. Pandita (Burma)
