Re: Pronunciation of H after a vowel, as in brahma, brahman

Dear Yojislav,
Although I'm still not sure how the -h- of brahmā and brāhmaṇo is to be
correctly pronounced, I remember the peculiar way a Sinhalese bhikkhu did
the brahmā. It sounded to me like the Scots way of pronouncing the -ch- of
loch, a sort of guttural raspy sound coming from further down in the throat
than for -k-.
Other -h- combinations that have long puzzled me are -ñh-, ṇh-, -nh-, -mh-
e.g. whether taṇhā should be pronounced ta-ṇhā or taṇ-hā. There are also
the combinations -yh-, -vh-, and -ḷh- to consider.
Best wishes,
Jim

Hello and thank you for your time.
So it is as I suspected.
The reason I asked is, because even though I thought it was so, I listened
to some spoken pali by a western ( I guess ) person and when he pronounced
brahma, brahmin etc. he swallowed the h, which was strange to me.
