Dear Chris, Ven. Nyanatusita,

Are you familiar with the Thai Dhammachai Tipiṭaka project which is trying to produce a critical edition of the entire Tipiṭaka using manuscripts from all the different traditions?

They have just published their first volume of the Sīlakkhandhavagga of the Dīghanikāya, which uses 19 mss from the Burmese, Thai, Laos and Sri Lankan traditions of which the earliest dates from 1679.

You can find some information on it at http://dhammachaitipitaka.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=41&Itemid=11&lang=en

The person in charge is
Dr.Bunchird Chaowarithreonglith Project Coordinator.

Obviously such a project is long overdue and very much needed, as the PTS edition is often based on a very limited number of mss,

Mettā,

Bryan

Dear Bhikkhu Nyanatusita,

Thanks for your reply. Are you aware of any publications that mention Ananda Maitreya's opinions on the Chaṭṭhasaṅgīti Piṭaka series?

Another good website for pdfs of the BJT is http://tipitaka.wordpress.com.

Best regards,
Chris
