I think the references at *SN V 121-6* and* AN III 230-6* refer to the same
sutta, namely, *Saṅgārava-sutta* in which Saṅgārava Brahmin went to ask the
Buddha a question regarding the reasons for which mantra recurs to the mind
or not, in spite of recitation.
English translation by Venerable Bhikkhu Bodhi can be found in the
Connected Discourses (2000) pp. 1611-5 and the Numerical Discourses
(2012) pp. 806-10.
