Venerable Bhikkhu Bodhi, dear friends,
Thank you, venerable Bhikkhu. The quotes from the Brahmajaalasutta
are very clear, vibhava tanhaa is clinging to the wrong view of
annihilation.
I would like to add a few thoughts.

N: Wrong view always accompanies citta rooted in lobha. One clings to
that view. Those who have the wrong view of annihilation do not
understand anantara paccaya, the fact that each citta that falls away
conditions the next citta. The cuti-citta that falls away conditions
the following citta, the pa.tisandhi-citta, without there being any
interval. Just as now each citta that falls away conditions the next
citta.
As you say, just as the craving responsible for views of an eternal
self is bhavataṇhā.
That is true, but some people may think that it is always accompanied
by di.t.thi. Bhavta, nhaa also implies clinging to rebirth as result
of ruupajhaana and aruupajhaana, without there being wrong view.
I looked at Co to Diighanikaaya, Sa.ngiitisutta, the Threes p. 988.
First it is explained about bhavata.nhaa accompanied by ditthi. Then
about two
other bhavata.nhaa: ruupaaruupa-bhavesu chanda-raago itaraa dve ta.nhaa.
With respect,
Nina.
