[Kaccāyanabyākaraṇaṃ, Sandhikappa, Catutthakaṇḍa, Sutta 38]

38. 53. Kvaci lopaṃ (147).

  Niggahitaṃ kho sare pare kvaci lopaṃ pappoti.

When a vowel follows, sometimes the niggahita comes to elision.

Tāsāhaṃ santike (Vin. ī, 303), vidūn aggam iti.

Examples:
tāsāhaṃ: tāsaṃ ahaṃ; tāsa ahaṃ (38); tās a ahaṃ (10); tās  ahaṃ (12);
     tās  āhaṃ (15); tāsāhaṃ (11).
vidūnaggamiti: vidūnaṃ aggaṃ iti; vidūna aggaṃ iti (38); vidūn a aggaṃ
     iti (10); vidūn  aggaṃ iti (12); vidūn aggam iti (34);
     vidūnaggamiti _11).

Kvacī ti kasmā? Aham eva nūna bālo etam atthaṃ viditvāna (Vin. īi, 2).

Why say ‘sometimes’? To prevent the operation of this rule in the
following: Aham eva nūna bālo etam atthaṃ viditvāna.

Counter Examples:
aham eva.
etam attthaṃ.
