Fourth Section

30. 58. Aṃ byañjane niggahitaṃ (153).

Niggahitaṃ kho byañjane pare aṃ iti hoti.

When a consonant follows, there is the niggahita ‘ṃ’.
*According to this sutta the niggahita ‘ṃ’ remain unchanged when
followed by a consonant.

Evaṃ vutte (Vin. i, 7), taṃ sādhū ti paṭissuṇitvā (DhA. i, 30).

Examples:
evaṃvutte: evaṃ vutte (30).
taṃsādhūti: taṃ sādhū ti (30).
