Thanks for all the contributions to the discussions so far and it was a
surprise to get one from Richard! I will be following up with more in the
coming days. At least we're off to a good start.

A few corrections:

After taking another look at the ṭīkā on Abh 348, "akkharacaṇo,
akkharacuñcu" (see below for more) is not a gloss on "akkharo" but two
additions to "lekhako lipikāro". "akkharo" is a synonym of "vaṇṇo" in the
meaning of letter. I also think the reading of "akkharacuñcu" should be
"akkharacañcu". The error is in the VRI text. It would also help if someone
who knows Burmese could translate cāre: and cālui: (or is that cāluṃ:?). I
don't know how to transliterate Burmese, so plwase forgive me for mistakes.
The Burmese edition of Abhidhānappadīpikā gives a word count along with a
category in Burmese for the terms. For the first line of 348 there is:
cāre: -2| cālui: -2| I think these are probably words for scribe and letter.
Just want to be sure.

348. dvaya.m lekhake. likha lekhane, bhuu, .nvu. lipena masyopadesena
bhavatiiti lipi, i, va.n.nasa.n.thaano, ta.m karotiiti lipikaaro.
akkharaca.no, akkharacu~ncupyatra. cana daane, bhuu. ca~ncu gatiya.m.
