Two announcemets:

1) Geocities Canada is shutting down as of Oct. 26 which means that
the following url for palistudy will cease to exist on that day:

2) I wish to introduce a new member, Christoph Emmrich, who joined us
today. I quote (with his permission) his own introduction from a
message sent to me earlier. To it he wishes to add Indology as a
discipline.

<< Allow me to introduce myself: my name is Christoph Emmrich and I am
Assistant Professor for South and Southeast Asian Buddhism at the
University of Toronto. My training is in Theravada Buddhism with a
focus on canonical Pali sources on which I wrote a dissertation back
in Heidelberg, Germany. While I am currently working on Buddhism in
Nepal, I have continued to pursue my interest in Pali literature and
will be offering a course on Theravada Literature at UofT this fall.
