Yes, I have noticed that "path" or "way" is used to translate "pada" in a
few of the titles of the following English translations:
The Buddha's Path of Virtue, tr F. L. Woodward
The Path of the Eternal Law, tr Swami Premananda
Path of Righteousness, tr David J. Kalupahana
The Way of Truth, tr S. W. Wijayatilake
The Buddha's Way of Virtue, tr W. D. C. Wagiswara & K. J. Saunders
I just did a search on CSCD for occurences of "dhammapada", alone or in a
compound, and came up with a count of 66 in the Suttantapi.taka and none in
the other two pi.takas. It would be interesting to find out how the
commentaries explain it and whether there are more than one meaning. I know
that Mp gives ko.t.thaasa (part, portion) as the meaning in the case of the
four dhammapadas in the Anguttaranikaaya (Book of Fours).
