Dear Bh. Nyanatusita,

This is a rather difficult term to make sense of or do some research on. The
best I can find so far for "vaasanaa-" is "(good) impressions". See towards
the end of Edgerton's article on vaasana/vaasanaa in BHSD on pp. 478-9.
There is something about "vaasanaabhaagiyaam sattvaam..." (beings that
participate in (good) impressions). At Abh 772d sa"nkharo & vaasanaa are
given as synonyms. Its .tiikaa is worth a look for more information. The
a.t.thakathaa and vibhaavinii-.tiikaa on Nett is also helpful. I would
suggest "a sutta partaking of (good) impressions" as a translation of
"vaasanaabhaagiya.m sutta.m" until further reseach is done to clear up the
ambiguities of "vaasanaa".

Best wishes,
Jim
