I notice that pali suttas on worldtipitaka, for example, [M. 1]
http://studies.worldtipitaka.org/tipitaka/9M/1/1.1

I can grab text using standard windows cut and paste from worldtipitaka,
paste the text to open office html web writer (free HTML editor
functionally equivalent to microsoft word), the text comes out fine on
the browser, as well as in the text editor.

Similarly with DPR, digital pali reader, and PTR, pali text reader.
Presumably all three of those tools are using unicode fonts, for which I
did not have to install anything, it just worked?

I just installed my mom's new computer with windows 7, and out of the
box without installing any fonts, those same tools, as well as the html
notes of pali that I keep displayed on her computer without a problem.

At least to this pali beginner, it looks like everything about unicode
Pali is working, other than in DPR double quotation marks seem out of
place and I have no idea what they are supposed to represent. PTR did
not have any weird characters that seemed out of place.

So the obvious next question, if unicode pali is working in 2010, I can
cut and paste from those sources and it displays properly in my free
easy to use html editor as well as on every web browser, is there any
reason why pali@... is not supporting html, when we can cut and
paste unicode pali from our notes and the excellent resources available?
