[Saddaniiti XXV: aakhyaatakappo : sutta 870, p. 812 (Smith's edn.)]

870. tumhe majjhimo. tumhe payujjamaanep appayujjamaanepi
tulyaadhikara.ne majjhimapuriso hoti. tva.m yaasi, tumhe yaatha;
yaasi, yaatha. tulyaadhikara.neti ki.m ? tayaa paciiyate bhatta.m.

870. When "tumha", the second. When "tumha" having the same substratum
is being used or not being used, there is the second person
(termination). tva.m yaasi (you go), tumhe yaatha (you go); yaasi
((you) go), yaatha ((you) go). Why "tulyaadhikara.ne" (having the same
substratum) ? tayaa paciiyate bhatta.m (a meal is cooked by you).

Notes:
1) "tumhe" at the beginning of the sutta and the vutti that
follows is in the locative singular, not to be confused with the nom.
or acc. plural. The stem form is "tumha" as found in the listing of 27
pronouns (sabbanaamaani) in the 12th pariccheda on p. 266. The main
entry for tumha in PED comes under "tuva.m & tva.m".
2) "tva.m yaasi, tumhe yaatha" are two examples (udaahara.naani)
for when "tumha" is being used, "yaasi, yaatha" on the other hand are
examples for when "tumha" is not being used.
3) In "tayaa paciiyate bhatta.m", 'tayaa' (by you) is in the
instrumental case and does not have the same substratum as the verb
"paciiyate" (is cooked) which has the 3rd person termination with
"bhatta.m" (meal) as the subject in the nominative case in agreement.
