vibhattiina.m yaani yaani pubbakaani cha padaani, taani taani
parassapadaani naama. ti anti, si tha, mi ma.

865. The antecedemt six of the (tense) terminations are the active
voice terminations. Whatever are the antecedent six terminations of
the (tense) terminations beginning with the present tense, these are
called the active voice terminations (parassapadaani).

Notes:
1) The first sentence is the sutta proper and the following
sentence is an expanded paraphrasing (vutti) of the sutta. This is a
definition sutta (sa~n~naasutta.m) in which the term 'parassapadaani'
(lit. terminations for the other) are defined.
2) " ti anti, si tha, mi ma " represent only the first six tense
terminations of the present and the same applies to the first six of
each of the remaining 7 tenses giving a total of 48 active voice
terminations in all. See the 2nd pariccheda and suttas 896-903 for the
complete table of all 96 tense terminations including the 48 middle
voice terminations.

866 paraani attanopadaani. te ante, se vhe, e mhe.

866. The others are the middle voice terminations. te ante, se vhe, e
mhe.

Notes:
1) The interpretation is similar to 865 above,
