Dear Nina,
Many thanks for your kind words.
I must say that I am not competent to give a straight answer to your question. Here is what Madhupindika sutta says.
"mana~ncaavuso pa.ticca dhamme ca uppajjati manovi~n~naana.m. ti,n.na.m sa^ngati phasso. phassa paccayaa vedanaa. ya.m vedeti ta.m sa^njaanaati ya.m sa^njaanaati ta.m vitakketi ya.m vitakketi ta.m papa~nceti. tatonidaana.m puriso papa~ncasa~n~naasa^khaa samudaacaranti atiitaanaagatapaccupannesu manovi~n~neyyesu dhammesu"

This is almost untranslatable to Englsh. My understanding is that the whole passage gives the cognition process for the dhammaa.

N: I just appreciate your posts. Take also all the suttas about
seeing, hearing , attachment arising on account of what is seen,
these refer to developing understanding of seeing now, hearing now,
attachment now. How otherwise could these dhammas be known?
Nina.
