2.“Maa.nava, aha.m te suva.n.namayam vaa ma.nimaya.m vaa rajatamaya.m
vaa lohamaya.m vaa cakkayuga.m dassaamii" ti braahma.no vadi.

suva.n.na + maya = suva.n.namaya
ma.ni + maya = ma.nimaya
rajata + maya = rajatamaya
loha + maya = lohamaya
The brahman said : “Young man, I will give you a pair of wheels made
of gold, jewels, silver or copper.”

3.Maagadho Bimbisaaro raajaa attano paasaadassa uparimatale .thito
pi.n¹aaya caranta.m Bodhisattam anugachante naagare disvaa "Ki.m
eta.m" ti pucchi.
Magadha / Bimbisara / king / his / [of] palace / [on] uppermost level
/ stood / going on alms round / Bodhisatta / orange-colour garment
/following / citizens / having seen / who / this / asked
Taddhita:
upari +ima = uparima
nagare + .na = naagare
King Magadha Bimbisara standing on the uppermost level of his palace,
saw the Buddha going on alms round and the citizens following him and
asked “Who is this?”.

4.Dayaalu Bhagavaa mahaajanata.m anukampanto sabbadaa ekattha
avasitvaa tattha tattha vicaranto sandi.t.thika.m dhamma.m desesi.
compassionate / Buddha / lots of people / having pity on / always / in
one place / not having lived / here and there / wandering / that
should be understood by oneself / Dhamma / taught
Taddhita:
dayaa + aalu = dayaalu
jana +taa = janataa
sandi.t.thi + ika = sandi.t.thika
Having pity on many people, the compassionate Buddha not having lived
in one place went wandering here and there teaching the Dhamma that
should be understood by oneself.

5.“Paa.taligaamikaapi kho upaasakaa paade pakkhaaletvaa
aavasathaagaara.m pavisitvaa puratthima.m bhitti.m nissaaya
pacchimaabhimukhaa nisiidi.msu, Bhagavanta.m yeva purakkhatvaa.”V. i,

pacchaa + ima = pacchimaa
The lay followers of Pataligama too, washed their feet, entered the
resthouse, sat down close to the eastern wall facing the west and
looked at the Buddha.

6.“ Assosu.m kho Vesaalikaa Licchavii : Bhagavaa kira Ko.tigaama.m
anuppattoti. Atha kho Vesaalikaa Licchavii bhadraani yaanaani

Then the Licchavis of Vesali heard : “They say that the Lord reached
Kotigama.” Then the Licchavis of Vesali had worthy vehicles
harnessed...were led from Vesali, to see the Buddha.

7.“Tena kho pana samayena Raajagahakassa se.t.thissa
sattavassiko siisaabaadho ahosi. Bahuu mahantaa mahantaa
disaapaamokkhaa vejjaa aagantvaa naasakkhi.msu aroga.m kaatu.m.”Ibid.

now at that time / [to] Rajagaha / [to] rich man / seven years /
sickness of head / was / many / great / famed far and wide / doctors
/ having arrived / had not been able / free from sickness / to do
Now at that time a rich man of Rajagaha was suffering from a sickness
of the head for seven years. Many very great doctors, famed far and
wide, came but had not been able to cure him.

8.“Atha kho Jiivako Komaarabhacco se.t.thi.m gahapati.m ma~ncake

bed and strapped him to the bed, split his scalp open and took out two
insects which he showed to the people.

Thinking that the Buddha's teaching is surely leading to salvation,
the son of a rich man was pleased. He covered a golden shrine of seven
mile in extent with a woolen mantle and decorated it here and there
with golden lotuses of the size of chariot wheels.

10.“Tasmi.m samaye catusattati-sahassaja.tilaa pa.niitapa.niitaani
ojavantaani phalaaphalaani gahetvaa aacariyassa santika.m
