I wonder if the venerable author Aggavamsa mentioned the reasons for
the choice of the title.
I gather from the PED:
sadda (m) word.
niiti (f) guidance, conduct, practice.
Hence, literally, saddaniiti means the study, rules, logic/science/art
of words.
