I have just been informed that the new Thai Pali Tipitaka, that was introduced so emphatically some years ago, is finally available on-line -

However, if you enter that web-site and try to read, for example, the Sutta Nipata, you are met with the message:

"We're sorry, but yu must have permission to view the page you requested"

There is an offer to register; I have tried to do that, but I am still not able to enter.

which I, as a translator, has used for some years now, makes no such difficulties.

The marketeers of the Thai edition are proud to claim that their edition is much better checked up that the VRI version, but I wonder:

Are the differences important enough to actually change the meaning of the texts?

Are they important enough to try to get inside the Berlin Wall of the Thai edition instead of continuing to use the VRI one?
