thank you for your responses. Thanks to Jim and Mahinda, and Nina too,
for your generous offer to contribute to the planned discussions. I am
sure we will all benefit from your wealth of knowledge.

Thanks to George, Joop, Jon and Jim for providing the background
information of Saddaniti, Kahr's works, French intro to Smith's
edition, Collins' text, and the Burmese nissaya, which are all truly
appreciated.

I can see it is a mammoth task that we have chosen to undertake. I
agree that either we work through the book sequentially, beginning
with padamaalaa, or we study excerpts in a selective manner. Either
way, we have to focus on quantity over quality. I am not very much
worried about the sheer size of the text, a good comprehensive grammar
of modern English by Cambridge or Oxford would probably also covers
similar length. In fact, I agree with everyone that it would be good
if we can just have small chunks of it at a time, and enjoy the
"flavour" of it.
