Dear Nina and friends,

Nina: thanks for your suggestion. I have now added the "Files" link on
the homepage of tipitaka.net. This links to the Paligroup Geocities
page. You can find it under the section/page menu ("space.menu" on the
left-hand column, under "daily meditation").

I have not included it in the drop-down menu (site menu) because it
isn't exactly relevant to the Pali section. Nina, I hope you don't
mind that.

So, now there are five direct links to the abovementioned Geocities page.

1. the new link on tipitaka.net (as above)
2. the (original) link found on the group's frontpage
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/pali/
3. the link in the group's Files section
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Pali/files/
4. the link in the group's Links section
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Pali/links
5. on the footer of every email delivered to your mailbox (as Nina
mentioned below)

In addition, there are more resources spread over on tipitaka.net,
such as Andy's files, and those now on the group's File section.
Access to tipitaka.net and geocities is open. Access to the group's
Files section requires a Yahoo! ID.

The group's Files section is the only way members can share files with
the group, mail attachments to the group have been disabled. If you
download any files provided by members, please scan them for virus
before opening. If you are suspicious of any file, please let the
group know, and our tech-savvy members would be able to help.

I have noticed the Files section now has a total 100MB of space, five
times the 20MB available in 2005. And, there are 90+MB of available
space. Other than the traditional files and documents, the Files
section can also host javascripts, for those who are keen to share
their computing results with the group.

Other than webspace, another thing to note is bandwidth. Just like
webspace, it is limited (or not absolutely free). For example,
Geocities sites has an hourly data transfer limit of 4MB. So, if
someone download 4MB of zipped files, he would have used up that
hour's limit, and the site *may* be locked out by Yahoo! Geocities for
the rest of the hour.

The same applies to Yahoo! Groups, although I can't find any
information on the download limit, I believe it still exists.
Tipitaka.net also has an undisclosed monthly limit, which was
increased recently because I got a better deal from the ISP.

So, by spreading things around, hopefully we can make good use of the
disk space and bandwidth available.

metta,
Yong Peng.

it is underneath each mail: files. But I could not see it on the home
page. Would it not be easier if the files section is also there? As
drop menue, in the Pali section?
