Dear D. G. D. C. Wijeratna,

You correctly pointed out difference between 'jaanaat passati' and english 'understanding'.

But that is translation used commonly. That is why I wrote in bracket -understanding by direct experience, which means jaanaati passati.

You can understand ALL Dhammas only by direct experience. Intellect just doesn’t have that reach. Wisdom ( Panna) arising from understanding of ALL dhammas ( passati) will lead to knowledge of TOTAL field of Dukkha( jaanaati.).

Knowledge of ‘TOTAL field of Dukkha’ ( field of anicca, field of impermanence, field of khandha ,field Naama and Rupa ) will lead to Cessation of Dukkha.

Buddha’s teaching is beautiful. In all Sutta essence is same. Everyone coming to Buddha was coming with his own set of Sankhara and own set of Paramis Tathagata used different words and different style to suit audience but Tathagata taught nothing but Dukkha and Cessation of Dukkha.

Metta,

Vinod.
