thank you again. I would like to discuss three terms:

1. vajja: gerund of vajjati, but used here as a neuter noun. PTS has
'fault', so does Ven. Buddhadatta's dictionary. [an evil deed, as the
example used in this sutta, is a fault]

2. paabhata: past participle 'brought', used as here an adjective on
its own. PTS has 'property', Ven. Buddhadatta's dictionary has
'present'. I prefer 'belongings' or 'possessions', but I believe it is
clear the word refers to something owned by others.

3. yathaaruupa: thanks for this. yathaa...tathaa... = as...so..., just
as...likewise...

It is hard to think of an exact equivalent for yathaaruupa,
furthermore, it is not used as an adverb here, but as a qualifier for
kamma. PTS has "in like manner".

In the sentence, "yathaaruupaana.m kho paapakaana.m kammaana.m hetu
cora.m aagucaari.m raajaano gahetvaa vividhaa kammakaara.naa
kaarenti", which does 'hetu' mean?

N: tathaaruupa: such, like this. yathaaruupaana.m is relative.

PTS has for this relative sentence: If I were to do such deeds for
which (yathaaruupaan.am paapakaana.m kammaana.m hetu) the rulers seize
a bandit, a criminal, and impose various punishments on him... (now
follow all the punishments , and at the end: If I were to do such
deeds, they would treat me in like manner: Aha~nceva kho pana
evaruupa.m paapakamma.m kareyya.m, mampi raajaano gahetvaa evaruupaa
vividhaa kammakaara.naa kaareyyu.m)

The sentence is very long and in between come again all the
punishments. To translate it, we could do as follows:

If I were to do such deeds for which the rulers seize a bandit, a
criminal, and impose various punishments on him, the same could happen
to me.These punishments are as follows:

Certainly, even if I would do...)

Frightened by the evil deeds that affect the present life, he does not
