Dear friends,

the new year is just round the corner. I wish to take this opportunity
to thank everyone for your participation and contribution in the
group's discussions in the past years.

We have completed the first book of the Anguttara Nikaya. We will
start the Book of Twos in the new year, and I hope we can complete it
by 2008. In the new year, I am looking at focusing more on the
foundation study, such as finishing Warder's exercises, than sutta
translation. At the same time, I hope to do more work on Pali Scope,
the lexicordance.

We have seen Pali learning moving from traditional monastic study to
classroom study in universities, colleges and institutes. We have then
seen it moving to self-study, with the successful publication and
circulation of Pali textbooks by print and through the Web. We have
also seen Pali study and discussion conducted online through mailing
lists and discussion forums. As web technologies evolve, I also hope
we can get a step further by enabling Pali study beyond forums and
emails. I will be setting up the community page on Tipitaka Network
for this purpose. So, do check it out regularly for updates.

Last but not least, I wish everyone a happy, safe and enlightening new
year.

With metta,
Yong Peng.
