Friends,
I often find emails contain junk characters which render the text
unreadable. Here's a simple solution to make it readable. U'll just have to
spend about 10-15 mins *the first time* to set up the required program. then
each time u put in junk, u'll be able to see the readable text quickly.
e.g.
*This junk:*
**
I found out that I was right-- I just couldn't believe my translation of The
New Pali Course, Exercise 11, Number 17 was correct:
"Dārikākaññāyanāsāyaṃ sakkharaṃ
pakkhipi." How strange is that? This marks the first time that my Pali
homework made me laugh out loud.
*will read like this:*

*Here's how:*
Download and install it on your comp the free & powerful text editor
"Textpad" from here:
http://www.textpad.com/download/index.html#downloads (there are several
d/load sites on this page to choose from).
Once u hv installed textpad on yr comp, this is how u view the junk
correctly:
1. open textpad. u will see 3 panes -- top left contains the file names of
open files, *bottom left* contains a choice of character sets and codes &
right is where the file content opens.
2. in bottom left pane select "HTML Tags"
3. Double click on "Blank Page ^" at the top of the list of HTML tags u see.
This will generate a Blank HTML file (in the right pane) that looks like
this:
++++++++++++++++++++++++++
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 3.2 Final//EN">
<HTML>
<HEAD>
<TITLE></TITLE>
<META NAME="Generator" CONTENT="TextPad 4.6">
<META NAME="Author" CONTENT="?">
<META NAME="Keywords" CONTENT="?">
<META NAME="Description" CONTENT="?">
</HEAD>
<BODY BGCOLOR="#FFFFFF" TEXT="#000000" LINK="#FF0000" VLINK="#800000"
ALINK="#FF00FF" BACKGROUND="?">
*(THIS IS WHERE U PASTE THE JUNK CODE FROM THE UNREADABLE EMAIL.)*
</BODY>
</HTML>
++++++++++++++++++++++++++
4. Copy the junk content from the unreadable email and paste it in the blank
html file at the location indicated in red above.
5. Save this file at a convenient location as an html file, i.e. file name
shud be in the format "filename.htm" OR "filename.html"
6. In Menubar right on top of textpad, click View > In Web Browser.
7. Viola! u see the file on your browser (Internet Explorer or whatever else
u use), the junk has disappeared and u can read it comfortably.
