Dear Traveller,
q. 1. If only arahats are bhuuta, then what's the explanation for
"evampi
sabbabhuutesu" in the same sutta?
-------
N: In this context: <thus, (evam pi), would he maintain (bhaavaye),
would he generate again and again, would he augment, his loving-
kindness-thought (manaasa.m) to every living being (sabbabhuutesu),
and he would maintain it in being unboundedly (aparimaa.nam) by means
of the object [of cognizance] consisting of boundless creatures or
by means of remainderless (unreserved) extension (pervasion) in a
single being.>
Thus, now all beings are included in sabbabhuutesu.
------------
Q. 2. Not sure if i understand you correctly. Do you mean the first
moment of
a life is when a baby was born to the world? Then the 10month in womb is
without consciousness? This will be easily refuted by the evidences
found
today.
-------
N: No, the first moment of life is not when the baby comes out of the
womb, it is the moment of pa.tisandhi-citta.
In the context before, seeking birth, conventional language was used
to explain seeking birth. Like the moment of coming out of an egg for
eggborn beings. In the ultimate sense the pa.tisandhi-citta is the
first moment of life.
Nina.
