Dear Nina,

thanks again. The title usually defines the (or a) central theme of
the sutta or vagga. When the title is not given by the Buddha, as in
this case, it is a projection into the later-generation Buddhists'
understanding of the discourse.

Your participation in the translation exercise has always enrich my
understanding of the Dhamma. There is a Chinese Buddhist saying:

shen1 ru4 jing1 zang4 ... going deep in the teachings
zhi4 hui4 ru2 hai3 ... gaining ocean-like wisdom

Hence, I take this opportunity to encourage all members to join us in
these meaningful exercises.

Back to our discussion, I find 'purifying' can be misleading, as I
explained earlier. I would therefore preferred your first suggestion:
serenity-producing, over others. Once again, thanks for the fruitful
discussion.
