< the Sandhi addhamida.m is unique in this case >

The sandhi is not that unusual. The insertion of the glide /m/ before /i/
is very common e.g. in the Jaataka, and the shortening of aa > /a/ before
the glide can be observed in many instances, cf. e.g. samma-d-akkhaataa D
III 212 < sammaa + akkhaataa, samma-d-eva, yatha-y-idam < yathaa idam. For
/d/ as an on-glide, cf. d-ubhato (= ubhato) Ja VI 218.
