Dear friends,
I like to bring your attention to an interesting article, which
reports on the UN Outstanding Women in Buddhism for 2006.
The article can be found here:
http://www.buddhistchannel.tv/index.php?id=1,2404,0,0,1,0
In the second paragraph, it reads ...Among them there are seven Thais,
including a female monk, a novice and two nuns...
I do not quite understand the unique historical and cultural
background to Thai Buddhism as much as I do Chinese Buddhism. I hope
someone can explain the differences, if any, between a female monk and
a nun.
Thank you.
metta,
Yong Peng.
