Dear John, Piya and friends,

thanks for mentioning me, John.

The Sutta Central project was conceived by Ven. Sujato to provide an
electronic version of a Sutta Correspondence based on Prof. Rod
Bucknell's work. This work has since been expanded, with inputs
typically from Ven. Analayo of Germany. We are also fortunate to have
John to join us in its development.

The discussion started in December 2004, but actual programming only
began in late February 2005, after my Chinese New Year holiday in
Singapore. It is an online database system built for realtime inputs by
Buddhist researchers specialising in comparative studies of the
Pali/Agama texts in several languages, mainly Pali, Chinese and Tibetan.

After months of deliberation, we have finally agreed upon the database
structure, and work is now underway to put things together and make it
a reality. We are looking forward to presenting a partial set of the
information at the end of the year.

metta,
Yong Peng.

I'm working on a project, called Sutta Central, with Yong Peng and
others that will eventually provide an online resource of all known
canonical correspondences, Pali to Chinese, Tibetan, Sanskrit, etc.
