Hi Karen,

It really refers to the sutta. It may not seem exact, but Nyanatiloka used and lots of German Buddhists still use to refer to a sutta when citing a passage or sentence - assuming that you know the text very well...

Thanks for the help, I didn't think it is the number of the Sutta,
since usually when reference in given, it is given from the PTS
edition. When only the Sutta number is given, it is not very exact...
