Dear group,
I think I am able to answer the flurry of posts on this thread from this morning in one email:
Stephen: Perhaps we need to take a breather and calm down. You, Rett, and Alan are, I'm sure, speakimg in good faith, but there is regrettably a sour emotional note entering this discussion.
Rene: Thank you, Stephen. I have little more to say on this thread, and perhaps the best thing for all concerned is to let this discussion rest.

Stephen: Therefore, IF Kds in particular can end in an adjective (as they indeed do), then so can Bbs! Why is this all proving so difficult to understand?
Rene: That has been the $64,000 question, one I've voiced on a number of occasions. Thankfully, Rett and I are now in agreement on the central issues, which is a signal accomplishment for all concerned. Rett now writes that he has "admitted bahubbiihis like hatthachinna and others, which for various reasons can have adjectives as their last members." In a post yesterday he also spoke of the final member functioning as an adj. Therefore, the central theses so vociferously promoted two weeks ago, namely, that the last element of a Bh "must end in a noun or function as a noun" will (hopefully) be forgotten forever.
-------
>> Rene: Why not just say that Bh compounds can also end with an adj.?
>> Rett: Because they can't.
Rett (today): It was with specific reference to your mistaken examples that I made that admittedly overly sweeping statement.
Rene: I don't accept the blame for your words, Rett. That very wrongheaded and cutting statement came out of your mouth, not mine. As for my perceived "mistakes," they were part of the process of questioning, part of a sincere attempt to learn about compounds. I take full responsibility for any errors I've made, and also for the positive things I've contributed, but not for what you say. Rett, you can't blame other people for your mistakes, or for the positions you hold or have held. I think maybe you should look at this issue. Sorry. You must keep your own karma, and I must keep my own.
Rene
