The fallacy of this proposition is it treats it as only two possibities
instead of acknowledging others. For example, a third alternative would be:

I am a fool AND I know nothing about the teacher or their meditation method.
Limiting me to only being a fool OR being ignorant of the teacher's method
deprives me of the possibility of being both foolish AND ignorant. I insist
on having the freedom to be both.
