Adolf Hitler is perhaps the most cited example. He
didn't drink alkohol - but, especially during his last
years, he at a lot of pills; and besides, he is a good
example of the intoxicating effect of power. Whether
he was "sober" is a matter of definition.

There are many kind of intoxication. I've met a few
teetotallers who were intoxicated by their own moral
superiority...
