From the context of the passage, it is possible to render vandeyya.m etc as:

What now if I, having gone there, were to honour the great sacred bodhi (tree) of the Blessed One.

The parenthesis is helpful here to show that "tree" is am amplification, but in the fair copy it is more aesthetic (without violating the Pali) to omit the parenthesis here.
