Dear John,
Ajahn Sujato speaks well of you. As you know he is a man of great talent, and to have given up music is truly a great sacrifice. I suppose it is like giving up silver for gold. I am told your brother is also well known in the local music scene. However I have not visited Australia although Singaporeans seem to he gravitating to Oz like herds of Dorothies.
Anyway, it's really great you are doing Pali with us, and working with Yong Peng. I am more of a one-man raft, enjoying my cruise of this Sutta river. Translating and teaching at the same time. I really enjoy this as it I feel like to ancient Egyptologists who discover new tombs in the Valley of Kings. The Buddha's teaching is getting more and more focussed as I explore the Suttas and meet great teachers like Ajahn Sujato.
As regards the Anguttara translation, just a short note, also to Yong Peng:
It is useful to cite Anguttara sources as
Nipata.sutta no/vol:page
for example
Aadiya Sutta (A 5.41/3:45 f)
This is the method used by scholars such as Bodhi and Analayo.
We can quickly locate the text from the Nipata or Vol:Page
