There have been a couple of matters about the functioning of the group that
I had suggestions about:
Regarding bouncing email addresses. Surely the moderator is doing the
correct thing to just remove them. If someone is actually using the account
somehow they would immediately notice and can be reinstated by emailing the
moderator.
Regarding the message archive: I believe on Usenet that if you put a code in
the header the message isn't archived. Is there a similar function in Yahoo?
If not could one note put a notice at the end of the Subject line, or a
header before the message text saying "X-archive" or something like. (In
some groups people mark messages "OT" for off-topic so people can know to
skip them if they're not interested. This is particularly useful for those
pressed for time or who have visual problems. )
I am suggesting this to make the work of the moderator easier, in that when
someone is posting a message that doesn't really add to the discussion e.g.
a message of thanks for help &c, then one can mark it to not be archived, or
at least deleted after a couple of days.
I must say how grateful I am that Yong Peng is putting so much effort into
keeping this vital group on course.
