Dear Piya and Stephen
The Commentary to the Vibhanga, the Sammoha Vinodanii, explains in detail
the craving by way of wrong view and by way of conceit. This may throw some
light upon the matter.
I have it in English: Ch 17, Minor Bases, Behaviour of Craving.
< ... since there comes to be the thought: 'I am' depending on this internal
pentad of aggregates, due to taking it as a unit (samuuhagaaha) through
craving, pride and wrong view.>
Thus, we may cling by tanhaa alone, or by maana or by di.t.thi.
Nina.
