Yong Peng & Pali friends,

Meeting people face to face is really vitalizing, especially when we meet in Dharma.
The web can be very impersonal and is a magnet for letting our latent tendencies run
wild through its faceless.

When we do meet people face to face, we have some idea that we are communicating with
living beings, not merely digital opinions and statements.

My good fortune is that I have had chances to personally meet a number of you on this
website. Meeting Ajahn Sujato last year was like meeting an old friend with spiritual
treasures to share. Decades back when I was a monk in Thailand, I met Nina (and also
another diplomat's wife, the late Mrs Stanton, a devout Buddhist). Yong Peng makes a
point of visiting me at least once a year during Chinese New Year.

Perhaps we might all might one day, perhaps at different times. Let us share our
ideas so that when we do meet (whether in this life or some other), we will meet as
friends. As friends, we respect each other opinion, no matter how different, and we
admire one another's Rahula-like will to learn.
