nevertheless this analysis of formal acts will be
a clear analysis when it is presented starting

the very beginning.
_cattaarii_ ti kammaana.m
ga.nanaparicchedavacanameta.m.
_cattaari_ [four] is a term that stipulates the
number of formal acts.
_kammaanii_ ti paricchinnakammanidassana.m.
_kammaani_ [formal acts] indicates the formal acts
stipulated [for exposition].
A formal act that must be carried out by purifying
the sangha located within the siimaa, bringing the
consent of bhikkhus whose consent is required,
and then, with the sangha's collective approval,
reciting [the kammavaacaa] three times is called
_apalokanakamma.m_ [formal act of giving notice].
A formal act that must be carried out just as in
the method related above, but with only a single
motion, with the sangha's collective approval, is
called _~nattikamma.m_ [a formal act at which a
motion is put].
