Sorry to hear that you are suffering from confusion and astonishment -- it
happens to everybody from time to time. For my part, I am not suggesting
abandoning the Nikayas in this respect, since nowhere is it stated that
there is no antaraabhava, but there is lots of evidence in them (see the
list of citations given by Bhante Kumaara) that such a transitional state
exists. Also since the jhanas are also taught in the Nikayas, there is
nothing strange about a Buddhist cultivating these although I agree that one
should be cautious about claims people make for their achievements.
If you are happy with whatever practice you are doing, you should stick with
that and see where it leads you.
