Dear Stephen,
Sorry, I guess I should have been clearer. I was not talking about a
language like Sanskrit or Magadha, I was referring to "The Paa.li", a group
of texts that are more or less fixed and agreed upon in Buddhist countries
like Sri Lanka and Thailand to be authentic Buddhist texts. Certainly, I am
happy to admit that there are respectible authors outside of this group of
texts, but I think they fit into another category, as they are not so
universally accepted as "The Paa.li".

That's good to know... I also can read Sanskrit (poorly, though).
