Kumara,
For me vayadhamma spoken by com is exactly correct
with 32 subjects contemplation of body and corpse,it
directly related to rebirth/death when the yogi
learning this method.
What is wrong with that?Is that Mahasi method which is
not as direct as this is more confirm to sutta.
People like your teacher also come out with their own
com which isn't better than com by Buddhaghosa.
For those who blame com,they are directly saying
arahant Mahinda didn't pass down com at all.
There are more stange commentaries in modern era than
buddhaghosa time,at least he didn't say he meet Buddha
