Sorry for the late reply. Had a nice retreat in a remote place for Wesak. I wanted to reply earlier but had something to complete first. Besides, there are so many postings that I thought I should do so when it's quieter.

Robert, I didn't specifically say that it departed from the Buddha's teachings, though it does have a rather weird interpretation which makes us wonder, like this one:

samudayadhammaanupassii vaa kaayasmi.m viharati, vayadhammaanupassii vaa kaayasmi.m viharati, samudayavayadhammaanupassii vaa kaayasmi.mviharati.

What does that look like to you? Does it seem quite plain to you that it's speaking of the rising and passing away of phenomena, in this case, with regard to the body?

The commentary however, in commenting on "vayadhammaanupassii" went to the point of speaking about when the body breaks up (kaaye bhinne).

Huh?

It it reminds me of my literature lecturers. They have a real knack for thinking way, way beyond the apparent. It also makes me wonder if these monks are experienced meditators, or just the typical city scholar monks, just as those we can find now.
