Dear Stephen,

How about another question: "is anicca linked to paticca-samuppada?" Then I
can answer better :)

Avijja is lack of knowledge about the four noble truths, right? And the
first noble truth is dukkha.m, no? The five khandhas are dukkha.m, in
brief. what does dukkha.m mean? That it can't last. ya.m panaanicca.m
ta.m dukkha.m

anicca.m is intrinsic in the suffering part of paticcasamuppada - "jaati
paccayaa jaraamara.na.m" is an explicit teaching on impermanence. anicca.m
means that it is of the nature to cease, no? Death is this cessation.
Saying that with birth as a condition comes death is exactly the teaching on
anicca.m

That's my humble opinion.
