I would like to point out that one ancient Chinese counterpart of S 46:18 supports the translation of the term ‘ekaayano maggo’ as ‘the only way’. Both in the prose and verse portion of that Chinese version, the parallel of the Pali term ‘ekaayano maggo’ is translated as ‘’there is only one way’ (Wei Yo Yi Dao, 唯有一道)(Taisho vol. 2: 410b).
