Thank you for the interesting summary of the Thai Pali lesson. I think it is
useful, worth pondering about.
In sutta 9, anussati.t.thaana, .t.thaana could also be occasion or
opportunity or quality. PTS has states, which is strange. Six qualities?
You indicated part of the commentary's definition of unsurpassables, and I
try to translate it. But I am bound to make mistakes.

Commentary:
> [1] anuttariyaaniiti a~n~nena uttaritarena rahitaani niruttaraani.
The unsurpassables, this means: most excellent things that are without
another thing that surpasses it.

> [2] dassanaanuttariyanti ruupadassanesu anuttara.m.
The unsurpassable seeing, this means the unsurpassable in the seeing of
visible objects.

Esa nayo sabbapadesu.
This method is to be followed for all words.

Hatthiratanaadiina~nhi dassana.m na dassanaanuttariya.m,
The seeing of the elephant jewel and so on is not an unsurpassable seeing,

> nivi.t.thasaddhassa pana nivi.t.thapemavasena dasabalassa vaa
but for someone who is established in confidence, because of his firm
affection, the sight of the Buddha with the ten powers,

> bhikkhusa"nghassa vaa kasi.na-asubhanimittaadiina.m vaa a~n~natarassa
> dassana.m dassanaanuttariya.m naama.
the sight of the Order of monks, or a kasina, and the sign of loathsomeness
and so on, these are called the sight that is unsurpassable by another
sight.

[3] Khattiyaadiina.m gu.nakathaasavana.m na savanaanuttariya.m,
The hearing of praise of a khattiya (of royal descent) and so on is not an
unsurpassable hearing.

> nivi.t.thasaddhassa pana nivi.t.thapemavasena ti.n.na.m vaa
> ratanaana.m gu.nakathaasavana.m tepi.takabuddhavacanasavana.m vaa
> savanaanuttariya.m naama.
but for someone who is established in confidence, because of his firm
affection, the hearing of praise of the Triple Gem or the Buddha's words
from the Tipi.taka, that is the unsurpassable hearing.

> [4] Ma.niratanaadiina.m laabho na laabhaanuttariya.m,
The obtaining of a gem or jewel is not an unsurpassable gain,

> sattavidha-ariyadhanalaabho pana laabhaanuttariya.m naama.
but the sevenfold ariyan wealth is the unsurpassable gain.

> [5] Hatthisippaadisikkhana.m na sikkhaanuttariya.m,
The training in elephant's craft is not an unsurpassble training.

> sikkhaattayassa puura.na.m pana sikkhaanuttariya.m naama,
but the accomplishment of the threefold training is the unsurpassable
training.

> [6] Khattiyaadiina.m paaricariyaa na paaricariyaanuttariya.m,
> The service to the Khattiyas and so on is not an unsurpassable service,

ti.n.na.m pana ratanaana.m paaricariyaa paaricariyaanuttariya.m naama.
but the service to the triple gem is the unsurpassable servive.

[7] Khattiyaadiina.m gu.naanussara.na.m na anussataanuttariya.m,
Remembrance of the noble qualities of the khattiyas is not an unsurpassable
remembrance,

> ti.n.na.m pana ratanaana.m gu.naanussara.na.m anussataanuttariya.m
> naama.
but the remembrance of the noble qualities of the triple gem is the
unsurpassable remembrance.

> [8] Iti imaani cha anuttariyaani lokiyalokuttaraani kathitaani.
These six unsurpassables which are mundane and supramundane were spoken of.

> [9] buddhaanussatiiti buddhagu.naaramma.naa sati.
Recollection of the Buddha means recollection that has the Buddha's virtues
as object.
