Dear Ven. Yuttadhammo and friends,
Bhante: thank you for your relentless guidance. I have learnt a lot
from the assistance and pointers you provided.
In regards to 'so', I believe you have made a valid point. I think
while syntactically it is not wrong to place it as I did, your
version is more common in actual usage (and correct in that sense).
As for the rest, I have included them as a footnote, and I have the
full solution uploaded here:

I am just wondering whether the "so" in 18 is better to go after the
second gerund? It seems to me that the subject should go in the
sentence proper, not attached to one of the gerunds, even when there
are many strung together. Can anyone verify this, or deny its
importance? I would write the sentence (using three gerunds):
Ek'uuna-ti.msatime vasse gharasmaa nikkhaametvaa,
cha vassaani vaayamitvaa, cattaari saccaani bujjhitvaa,
so pañca-ti.msatime vasse Sammaa-sambuddho bhavi.
You could also use "sammaasambodhi.m abhisambujjhi", which is the
phrase used in the Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta. The verb
abhisambujjhati seems to be used often to describe "becoming"
enlightened. Please see the Mahaaparinibbaanasutta,
Sariputtasiihanaado, where the root "bhuu" is used to mean "will be
buddhas", "thus will be their morality", etc.,
whereas "sammaasambodhi.m abhisambujjhi.msu" is used to
mean "attained to surpreme enlightenment" (cp Walshe p. 235). Some
vitakkaahaara (food for thought).
